The geological and meteorological soil types that construct the terrain of Knezha determine low water abundance of the major parts of the researched area.
The loess materials that cover most of the terrain are strongly waterproof: the coefficient of filtrations is 2 - 2.2m/day. They ease the penetration of atmosphere water to the water absorbing surfaces - sands and gravel.
This is the main reason for passing the waters from the Bqla Slatina's nourishing system - horizontally and in depth, which in addition to the full waters formed in the 1973 flood are the reason for the severe dehydration on the territory of Knezha.
